Welcome back to Tech Service Today's IT Disaster of the Week series where we post the ugliest IT environment our technicians run into each week.

While this image is reminiscent of the gallows pole in an old cowboy movie, rest assured that the 48-port patch panel is not actually hung from the ceiling by cables.

The patch panel is actually secured to the wall using a simple wall-mount bracket. And that bracket represents this customer's first step toward creating this IT disaster.

Patch Panel wall brackets are popular solutions, mainly because they're much less expensive than traditional wall-mount racks and cabinets/enclosures. But this photo clearly shows what happens when you cut corners and use low-cost solutions.

Brackets are inexpensive because they don't offer enough space for a rack-mount cable manager nor do they include built-in cable management. And if this series has taught our audience of IT professionals one thing, it is that cable management must be part of every network environment.

Many of you are probably guilty of using a wall bracket like this in one of your remote facilities, and are now wondering how to restore some semblance of order to the cabling chaos that has since overtaken that site. That is a job best left to professional IT technicians.

At Tech Service Today, end-users call us with disasters like this every day and ask for our help. That's because word is spreading rapidly about how our Cabling Cleanup Services can restore order to even the ugliest cabling chaos plaguing a network environment - anywhere in North America.

So call TST before your network gets so tangled that you experience an outage.   Or even worse than that, you see a picture of your network on a future IT Disaster Of The Week post.

Check back every Friday for TST's latest IT Disaster of the Week photo

which represent one of the thousands of customer sites our technicians visit every year as they install and service IT, networking, and telecom equipment & cabling for our clients.
