Today's photo caption: What IT professionals really mean when they say they just "Tied the knot."

Welcome back to Tech Service Today's IT Disaster of the Week series where we showcase the ugliest IT environment our technicians ran into this week.

Half of the reason I chose a caption about "tying the knot" for today's post is because one of Tech Service Today's most valued team members is getting married next week; so it seemed appropriate. My other reasons should become blatantly clear once you really look at this week's disaster photo.

It appears to be a well-organized network, right?  NOT!   (Or in this case, "KNOT!")

People often ask me if we stage these weekly disasters because they find them so surreal and entertaining. But trust me when I tell you that these are not staged and they are not a joke. An IT joke would be: What did the Computer User ask the Data Packet?  "Wanna go grab a byte?"    (Wow, I think I heard you groaning all the way from here.)

While we do often make jokes about the disaster photos we post each week, our message is actually quite serious. Jumbled, disorganized network cabling is more than an eye sore. It can become a source of accidental disconnects, while increasing your technology servicing costs because all moves/adds/changes take significantly longer to complete when you must dig your way through cabling cobwebs like this to get to your equipment.

Spring may have officially ended last week. But that doesn't mean IT professionals should continue ignoring until next year the environments that are in dire need of spring cleaning. If you have an IT disaster, clean it up. And if it's just too daunting for you to tackle yourself, call Tech Service Today for help. We can transform any "Knotwork" back into the neat, organized, functional Network you always wanted.
