Welcome back to Tech Service Today's IT Disaster of the Week series where we post the ugliest IT environment our technicians run into each week.

This week is a little different because our disaster photo is not from a customer site but is a creation made at home by yours truly. As a child who turned our family kitchen into a disaster area every time I tried to make a Mother's Day gift by hand (like the infamous macaroni-art cards), it would seem my artistic skills haven't improved much in the last 40 years.

But while I could have produced something impressive on my computer, I chose to revert to the skills and spirit of my childhood self and make something by hand this year. Despite the pitiful looking end-result, it is important to point out that I used the products which have been the focus of my entire professional career - network cabling - as the medium for my Mother's Day card. And my reason for doing so is simple.

This week's blog post is a message to my mother - and the mothers of every technology visionary, creator, enthusiast, developer, engineer, and technician who helped drive technology into every facet of our lives - expressing appreciation for the love, support and guidance they gave their children. For without those amazing mothers, far fewer children would have had the strength or courage to turn their dreams into the technological devices, tools and realities that we so heavily rely on today.

From everyone here at TST, we send our sincerest wishes for a Happy Mother's Day to the mothers of every IT professional who painted our world with technology, and to those who continue to keep that technology running.

Check back every Friday for TST's latest IT Disaster of the Week photo

which represent one of the thousands of customer sites our technicians visit every year as they install and service IT, networking, and telecom equipment & cabling for our clients.
