Welcome back to Tech Service Today's IT Disaster of the Week series where we post the ugliest IT environment our technicians run into each week.

This week's image will likely be featured in TST's 2018 Halloween House of IT Horrors video because it shows more than just the messy, chaotic cabling, which IT professionals often call spider webs. It includes actual spider webs built all around the data and voice cabling.

These massive webs not only turned the fluorescent light fixture into a spider nursery, but they've made the completion of any moves/adds/changes nearly impossible...for "safety reasons" according to our technician (who claimed the spider who spun these webs was larger than any mouse he'd ever seen).

But stepping back and looking at the bigger picture - beyond the actual spider webs - it is clear why we chose this image as our IT Disaster of the Week. Very little (if any) planning went into cable management for this network environment. Granted, this area is below the ground floor of a building. But when it comes to managing IT networks, just because they might be "Out of Sight" should never make them "Out of Mind". Otherwise you end up with a disaster like this, a site so horrific that it nearly drove our Technician out of his mind (especially after seeing "the queen of all arachnids" who made this cabling her home).
